-3- 2. Internal Gallery. Jets altered to actually direct an even flow of water on to the back of each exhaust valve seat. The standard gallery does not do this. 3. Transfer Holes. Increased in number, and size to the maximum. 4. External Gallery. This was fitted to the head, so that the water ran across each combustion chamber, and then out by the new external gallery. We thought this to be preferable to the standard scheme where the water has to run over the combustion chambers from end to end, there being some restriction on the inlet side. Result. No improvement. Conclusions. As stated, we were about to try sodium cooled valves over again. It might be worth while doing this on the road, on say 9.B.V. which is a bad case, and at present has solid valves. The only other idea we had in mind was to try increased diameter exhaust valve stems. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} | ||
