To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} from Blk. 1130 Re MY EXPENSES Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Blk.1/ET.9.8.40 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has handed me your memo of the 6th instant with reference to my expenses and asked me to reply to queries, which are as follows: 1 & 2. The Company did not pay for the sleeper for either journey. In the case of the return journey the whole night was spent on the sleeper and therefore expenses were charged for one day, plus the 10/- sleeper allowance. This is the custom at Glasgow and I should be be glad to know of any different practice that holds here. On the down journey it was necessary to book a room at Derby in addition to the sleeper; in this case therefore the amount of the sleeper ticket was charged and not the 10/- special allowance. 3. With regard to being on the Derby driving list, please advise me what arrangements are necessary. 4. The date was entered as Sunday July 29th, but should have read Sunday July 28th, and therefore 7 days expenses is correct. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Blk. | ||
