400 b. To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} FOR LOG BOOK. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}29.8.38. 8.B.V. Week-end run of about 130 miles. The following points were noted:- (1) Sunshine roof leaks at the offside rear corner. (2) Spare wheel well fills up with water because there is no drain hole. (3) The driver's window winder is impossibly heavy to operate. (4) The side of the body is too near to the throttle pedal. The brake pedal is also too near the throttle pedal. (5) The mixture provided by the starter carburetter is too weak for pulling straight away up a hill. (6) The engine is very rough at 2800 revs. particularly on the over-run. (7) There is an exhaust boom around 30 m.p.h., and also an over-run engine boom at various speeds. (8) Something in the brake system comes on to a stop, and only by an increase in effort on the pedal can one obtain any more braking from the rear wheels only. (9) The rear wheels get exceedingly hot, hotter than one could touch if changing a wheel in the event of a puncture. The oil from the studs holding the rear wheels leaks out past the chromium centre on to the wheel discs. (10) Steering noticeably heavier than that on 7.B.V. (11) The ride is too hard, 10 lbs. being the minimum pressure shown on the gauge. | ||
