X7310 P.2. SYNCHRO MESH GEARBOX. This gearbox has now run about 400 miles on the road. The gears, as we have previously mentioned, are very good for silence. The only fault we have with this box is that the synchro mesh portion does not work as smoothly as on the 25 HP. From the investigations we have carried out it would appear that the cones are not sufficiently powerful to synchronise the gear and one feels considerable resistance from the cam. It will be remembered that on the 25 HP. we increased the angle of the cones from 6° to 10° because we suspected them binding. In the case of the Phantom II, where it would appear we require more power, we are trying again the 6° angle cone. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
