I am very pleased to receive your memo and note that Firths are really going to try and get us some top leaves quickly so as to get the Experimental Dept. testing them.

My endeavour is not only to help ourselves in getting this job through quickly, but to be of any assistance that we possibly can to Firths.

Seeing that they suggest that they will have some difficulty in getting these top leaves and also that they do not care to take any responsibility, I think it would be advisable if you could arrange with Firths to get us sufficient steel to enable us to make say a dozen top plates ourselves.

This might enable us to help Firths with the heat- -treatment, and would certainly give us an opportunity of experimenting to see if we could be of any assistance to them.

I think that we have had dealings with Firths such a long time, right from the beginning of the Company, that they will have confidence that our only desire is to assist.
