It is our experience that the close coupled saloon with boot weighs approx. 1 cwt. more than the corresponding full length saloon. This is apparent when one realises that the rear panel is only say 6 to 8" more forward on the close coupled body, so saving a section of body of that length, but saving no pillars, fittings, or cushions. The added weight of the boot is more than is saved. We would point out that in the case of the close coupled body the dummy hub and wheel cover are included in the body. We would also point out that the weight of the body is determined by weighing the lorry and then the lorry and body. This accounts for the discrepancy in the weights of the two identical bodies of 1. Pere. 2. and 2. Pere. 2. The weights are not to 1/4 cwt. in any one case, so making a possible error of 1/2 cwt. in the difference between the weights of any two bodies. LID{A. J.
