-2- will not touch the systems which have been. Also when we send him his invoice and final receipt we will place a rubber stamp across them both stating that certain important repairs recommended by R.R. have not been carried out. (c) The question of how Mr. Hanbury's Department should treat the bedevilled cars when they come across them was also brought up at the meeting. It was agreed that this department should not express an opinion as to whether the car was in a dangerous state or not, but that they should point out to the owner that it is not R.R. standard and try and persuade the owner to have the bedevilled parts replaced by R.R. parts, and offer to give a description of the parts which are not R.R. to the Works, and ask them to send an estimate to the owner to replace these parts with R.R. parts. In case the owner refuses to have the bedevilled parts changed Mr. Hanbury's Department would report the matter to the Works and action would be taken as in paragraph (a) of same minute. In some cases, on this information from Mr. Hanbury's Department Works would be able to state without sending a technical man down there, that the car was in a dangerous state, in other cases Works would have to make arrangements to send a technical man down to inspect the car, and he would report to the Works as to whether the car was in a dangerous state or not, and not to the owner. ※ (2) NEW REPAIR DEPARTMENT SCHEME. At a meeting held at the Midland Hotel on 16/6/20, CJ. decided to place the proposition for the new Repair Dept. in front of the Board on 17/6/20. He also asked Mr. Cowen to place such additional price on future new chassis that he would not have to ask the Board again for further anticipated additions to the Repair Dept. in two years' time. In other words, to start a fund which will have sufficiently increased in two years' time to cover expenses in case the Repair Shop has to be further enlarged. ※ The opinion of the conference was that the cost of sending this man should be borne by the London Inspection Department. | ||
