Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R.31.5.38. Attached is a report on some fuel consumption tests carried out by Ratcliffe. This shows that the suction ignition advance is not of much value on the Wraith as arranged for production. There is something curious about these results, because the 25/30 has benefitted considerably by the suction ignition advance. We are continuing these tests, but are taking up the attitude that for our products it is far more important to have perfect carburation and an instantaneous get-away than maximum economy. Hm.{Capt.
