CARBURETTER PROJECT. ROAD. (1) G.R. to supply a carburetter giving the optimum road setting for the Wraith as 1st 12 cars. (2) Repeat test with maximum ignition advance required. The above tests to be obtained with new coil and .030 plug gaps. Most efficient accelerator pump. After doing them G.R. will provide test bed with throttle opening required to maintain steady car speed of 20, 30, 40, 50. Additionally, G.R. supplies two carb. settings with the M.P.G. difference they represent at 40 M.P.H. and C.T.S. gives us weakest maintained part throttle curves for these particular carburetters. BED. (1) C.T.S. gets ideal carb. setting from G.R., and compares it with ideal metering required on test bed. (2) C.T.S. confirms, or otherwise, G.R's figure for the effect of ignition advance on the road. Evaluate (a) Variation of air intake temp. (b) " " oil viscosity. (c) Effect of exhaust system. Open exhaust with long pipe compared with standard system. (d) Effect of hot spot temp. (e) " " mech. efficiency. (f) " " surface area of hot spots. (g) Make the spark plug distribution scheme work. From the second series of tests a schedule will be evolved to compare the various combination of carburetters and induction systems that are now ready for test. | ||
