on the other. The reason for this, is that we have found that if a Ferodo lined central brake is used continuously the drum becomes excessively hot, and more so than if cast iron liners were used, and that it would result in the warping of the drum.

However, if he has to deal with any cars of 2700 series or later, then he must not use Ferodo liners unless he can adopt, and at the same time obtain delivery of, our large ribbed air cooled drum, as otherwise the brake drum will expand so rapidly as to clear itself from the action of the shoe, as under the circumstances the brake would of course become inoperative.
