Messrs. Ransome & Marles Bearing Co. Ltd.,
Newark on Trent.

Dear Sirs,

25/30 HP. CHASSIS - STEERING ROLLERS.

We are in receipt of your letter of the 4th inst. (ref. Tech. Dept. FOH/AD.) together with quotation for the parts connected with the follower roller on the Adamant gear, which you are in future producing for us, for which we thank you.

I am passing these on to our Order Office who will confirm the financial position.

In regard to the question of future production, we have no doubt at all that rollers as produced by your Company will be better in every respect, but particularly so from the point of view of accuracy of machining, than those we have had previously, and it was for this reason that arrangements were made for you to take the matter over and we wish to confirm that this is a final decision so long as we use this form of steering roller on the 25/30 HP. chassis.

In the first place it was suggested that you should only make 100 rollers, but at that time it was a question of finishing rollers produced by Messrs. Adamants, this position has now been washed out.

In regard to material, we have already explained to Messrs. Adamants that the arrangements with yourselves are permanent on this roller, and we are sending herewith a copy of the letter we have written to Messrs. Adamants. Messrs. Adamants wrote us to the effect that they had sent you some more bar material, but apparently it was only the balance of what was required to make 100 rollers with which the new scheme started.

In view of the whole of the facts, and particularly our experience with S.82 material, which we know to be more accurately produced, and therefore must be more reliable than the Adamant type of steel, we would prefer to go immediately on to
