R.R. 288 a (300 H) (S.B. 80. 12-10-15) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 1278 X.3575 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SCL from EY. C.C. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RECEIVED MAR 17 1921 BY1-P17.3.21. X 3545 X 3457 CHASSIS - REAR AXLE. In producing bevel Gears at the Works here, it is most important for us to concentrate on the production of the 15/52 ratio than it is the 16/52, owing to the fact that the general opinion in the Test and Experimental Dept is that the 15/52 ratio is a better all round proposition for the car. In view of this therefore, and since we have also got quite a fair number of 16/52 bevels which have been cut at E.N.V's, for the present we should concentrate on producing 15/52 in the works, and when these are available they should be fitted to standard chassis, as the ratio has already been standardised, but at the same time it was considered best to use it only for American, Colonial and heavy cars. At present, however, the result of our experience is that it is considered a better all round proposition. In regard to the 14/52 ratio, as soon as we have satisfied ourselves with this particular ratio of bevels in regard to quietness, we shall then place a definite order for a certain number which will have to be used on heavy cars only.
