Dear Sir,
Re: Wraith Body Mounting Brackets.
Your letter re the above and addressed to our Lillie Hall Depot has been forwarded to us for a reply.
We note your remarks concerning the Floatex Bushes, and would point out that these are a proprietary article over which we have no design control.
We have used the system of body mounting as instructed for the Wraith on all of the experimental cars, all of which have done a big mileage, and several have completed at least one 15,000 miles test in France. We have not experienced any of the troubles you enumerate.
The inserted plate on the underside of the body runner makes a larger flange on the top of the distance sleeve unnecessary. Care should be taken to ensure that the plates all lie parallel to the body mounting plane, otherwise the distance sleeve will be rocked over on being pulled up by the mounting bolt. This may be the cause of your complaint of it contacting with the outer shell of the Floatex causing squeaks.
The hole in the bottom side must be in line with the axis of the hole in the distance sleeve, or the same defect mentioned above may be produced. A further source of this trouble might be the lack of torsional rigidity of the body bottom side or the lower edge of the rear wheel arch.
The size of the bolt has no influence on this problem of squeaks, as it is wholly enclosed in the bottom side and distance sleeve, and can, therefore, rub nothing.
On all our experimental cars we have found that the size of Floatex supplied has proved adequate, even for the
