-4- EPS/WSC.{W. S. Cassel}10/EA.20.4.39. B.80.No.3. On test for General Development. B.80.No.4. New Unit in course of erection. The only outstanding item to complete this unit is the Crankshaft which is in V.C.M., present position being pin boring. We anticipate completing the engine and passing to test by mid-May. B.80.No.5. New unit instructed in HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WSC.{W. S. Cassel}1/EA.31.3.39 below is a summary of the main items. (a) Crankcase T.H. Cylinder EB.4070 AC. reported that this was at the operation milling. (b) Crankshaft EB.4875. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} stated that he was anticipating this being available in approximately 4 weeks. (c) Crankshaft Damper to ECD.1246. (d) Cylinder Head EB.4098. (e) Camshaft Ex.33975. (f) Exhaust Valves Ex.33420. (g) Induction Manifolds ECD.1298 details were received 19.4.39 and are instructed under code EB.3/2, necessitating new castings. (h) Pistons EB.3916 Aerolite. It was agreed that a tentative date for the completion of this unit would be the end of May. B.80.No.16. This was also a new unit instructed in HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WSC.{W. S. Cassel}1/EA.31.3.39 which is simil to B.80.No.5 with the following exceptions. (a) EB.4512 Camshaft. (b) EW.2121 Pistons - Aerolite. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} stated that this engine to follow closely on the heels of B.80.No.5. continued. | ||
