These figures are quite satisfactory but compared with previous tests carried out on std coils (see WC84) do not show any improvement as regards cooling. We have therefore come to the conclusion as a result of these tests that the small air gap between the windings and the case is of little consequence as an heat insulator. Tests carried out under (b) shewed that the leakage effect due to the earthed plate on the base was negligyble, the length of series gap obtained for the various temperatures with both coils being approximately the same as for standard coils.
