PATTERNS FOR EXPERIMENTAL CAR ENGINES.

We are concerned at the position in which we find ourselves with regard to the patterns of the 8-cylinder aluminium car engine.

In our Memo. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}25.9.39. we asked you to check up on the patterns that were available for this unit and asked you to let us know which pattern referred to which engine.

We never had any reply to this query.

The patterns for this 8-cylinder engine were very nearly finished before the war.

On 28/11/39 you took the unfinished patterns and 7 coreboxes, which you stated in your note Vs{J. Vickers}/MN.6/SS.{S. Smith}28.11.39 you were going to despatch to Glasgow.

One month later you wrote to us in your Vs.{J. Vickers}6/ST.29.11.39 and told us Mr. Morgan was going to collect the pattern for the aluminium"straight-8" and forward this to Glasgow.

In your note Vs{J. Vickers}/MN.4/ST.26.12.39. after another month had elapsed, you still had not collected all the patterns.

On 9.2.40. you write us another note saying that you are about to collect these patterns and send them to the Pattern & Model Manufacturing Co., Harper Road, Coventry.

Another month later, not having heard or seen anything of these patterns, we make enquiries to you and you do not appear to know where they are.

We also rang up the Pattern & Model Co., and they do not appear to have heard of the job.
