To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}RMG. Ha/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} HARDY. E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/LN.18.8.36. [handwritten signature: F J HARDY] Wraith II Steering Box. N.Sch.4866. In response to Ha/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}17/JH.9.7.36., we have provided a means for retaining the two inner races of the ball bearing of the cam follower for Wraith II. The design of this retainer has been given to us by the Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd., and is shown on their detail drawings MA.21184, M.21195 and M.21196. This scheme will enable the cam follower wheel and its bearings to be matched up by Messrs.Ransome & Marles and retained in one piece, so ensuring that the parts can not subsequently be mixed up. We suggest that this scheme should be made applicable not only to Wraith II but to all cases of ball bearing cam followers, should it prove satisfactory. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
