However, a modified unit has, up to the moment, completed 160 hours endurance test on the bench without any signs of failure. We do feel satisfied that the new unit is a distinct improvement over the former type. Is it not possible to purchase first sufficient quantities of these units for your immediate requirements until we have finished our endurance test, and also obtained some running experience on the car? In the meanwhile we will complete our tests and recommend as soon as possible. The modifications are as follows :- (1) Taper collet fixing of the wiper blades, to prevent them from working loose. (2) Taper pivots and spring loading on the tie-bars which should give longer life and freedom from a sloppy action. (3) Rubber packing on the blades to minimise noise. (4) Pull 'ON' instead of Push 'ON' switches; this will leave the control knob in the inner position when the wipers are out of action. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} | ||
