X6537 War. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Sft.{Mr Swift} c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} ----------------- 20/25 HP. CHASSIS - RUBBER MOUNTING FOR ENGINE. --------------------------------------------- With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s request that we should hold up present standard material for the second half of E.2. series in order to introduce rubber mounting for the engine, Sft.{Mr Swift} points out that in order to avoid a break in output the new parts would have to be available at the present moment to enable the above scheme to be introduced on the second half of this series. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} informs us that they require 6/7 weeks, (bearing in mind the intervention of holidays, various suppliers are claiming for 7/10 days,) in order to get new dies made, and material produced, consequently the earliest point when the rubber engine mounting can be introduced without delay in output is the 51st. chassis in F.2. series, providing material is ordered at once. We have discussed the matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and although he is not in a position to issue standardisation sheets at the moment he is in agreement that we should order say 150 sets of the new material to complete F.2 series, and hold up the present standard material from the 51st chassis in F.2. series. Approximate cost of raw material to the present design represents about £300 to £350, plus Works' scrap, which Sft.{Mr Swift} is investigating. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
