40/50 HP. CHASSIS - T.2. SERIES.

With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s request that we should hold up the present standard material for the second half of the above series in order to introduce the following modifications :-

(1). Rubber mounting for engine.

(2). New cylinder head with adjustable and more silent tappets.

(3). Stabiliser fitted between rear hydraulic shock dampers.

Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} will require instructions for any new material which demands new dies not later than August 4th., and we have discussed the matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} who is only in a position to recommend ordering Item (1), and he considers that they have not got sufficiently far with the testing of Items 2 and 3 to justify ordering new material for these two items for the second half of T.2. series.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} however recommends, and is in a position to issue standardisation sheets, that we introduce the new carburetter at the 51st. in T.2 series, as it improves silence and will be a stepping stone to the introduction of the new cylinder head with adjustable and more silent tappets

In regard to the new gearbox with synchromesh second speed gears, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} agrees that it would be safe to go ahead and order material for this to be introduced at the 51st chassis in T.2. series.

Sft.{Mr Swift} and Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} are investigating cost of scrap.
