Messrs.Hallam,Sleigh & Cheston, Widney Works, Bagot Street, Birmingham,4. Dear Sirs, Re Bentley with Widney Unbroken Line Top Bonnet Hinge. As promised to you during the visit here of your Mr.Cheston we are now sending you a design LeC.5486 showing how we believe it is possible to fit your Widney unbroken line bonnet hinge H.34type, to our present Bentley car. As previously agreed upon it entails the use of a steel bonnet. We have maintained the hinge pressings as standard, only shearing out a section to accommodate the rear bonnet fixing. We are asking our Works to produce all the fittings and we are only expecting from you the two halves of the bonnet hinge complete with the rest stops as drawn, the centre bead which for the first car may be chromium plated brass but would subsequently be required in Staybrite, and the central brass pin. We shall supply the bonnet panels and other parts. We would be glad to receive a hinge from you as soon as possible and would like to hear from you by return when we may expect to receive it. Yours faithfully, For and on behalf of ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. Att:LeC.5486. | ||
