We are slightly dazed by the frequent changes of leverage that you consider necessary on this car. We think it very important quickly to decide what final scheme to adopt and do some miles running like that.

We are obviously unable to agree to, or pass any criticism on, a scheme we have not tried, and have no means of trying. The most recent leverage changes were due to a flexing cross member, otherwise the scheme was satisfactory. Our recommendation is therefore to prevent the flexing of the said cross member and return to the former leverage.

Will you please rig up a cross member stiffener on your car. This can be done by fixing a triangular sheet of metal to the underside of the cross member flange (under the foot well) and also the lower frame flange.

Alternatively a stiffener can be secured to the fixing bolts of the idler lever brackets and carried to the frame behind the cross member.
