E.7.C. X2894. Date 28-2-30 Ref No. WE9. X NO. 2894. Tungsten contact breaker points on R.R. Battery ignition. We have examined the log books of our various experimental cars to ascertain what attention has been required to the battery ignition contact points to maintain them in a satisfactory condition. The following table gives the history of the contact points, which have all been run on standard contact breakers, and their present condition. CHASSIS No. | PARTICULARS OF ATTENTION. | PRESENT CONDITION. ---|---|--- 12G4 | Cleaned at 2188 miles run a total of 9755 miles without trimming. | Good. 9EX | Run 15934 miles with no trimming. | Points worn down considerably but condition good. 14EX | Cleaned after 10800 miles run 29,892 with no trimming | Good. 19EX | Readjusted and cleaned at 10,090 miles run 13,000 miles with no trimming | Good. 20EX | Cleaned at 2598 miles run 11,063 with no trimming | Good. 22EX | Run 4924 miles with no attention. | Good NOTE. Cleaning referred to above means polishing with emery cloth and readjusting the gap. | ||
