I enclose remainder of a set of spring gaiters for your E experimental Car. As you are aware the variable position of the clip-bolt in your springs made the ones I originally brought a misfit. In these I have varied my usual design in the Direction of a gaiter that will fit any spring regardless of the position of the bolt. I have therefore disregarded the question of appearance with these particular covers and send them to you merely as samples for testing in regard to utility and quality.

The question of appearance will meanwhile receive my attention and by the time you are satisfied as to the efficiency of the gaiters I shall have a more pleasing design for a cover to the clip.

The test you are putting the gaiters to is very severe and the springs of E car are in a very rusty condition. It will be necessary therefore to see that plenty of paraffin as well as the lubricating oil is put on the felt before affixing the gaiters. After the paraffin has partly evaporated a liberal addition of lubricating oil should be poured into the oil vent with a can with a good wide nozzle.

For adjusting the gaiters the young man at your works observed how the lacing was done. The easiest and most effective way is the one started on the gaiters- the lace is never carried to the opposite side except outside and in an opposite direction for each pair of holes. It can then be easily drawn tight afterwards.

I should like to hear how the gaiters come through the test. Of course you will wipe off the external mud on the springs before affixing gaiters.

I am, Sir,
Yours sincerely,
R Latham
Proprietor.

P.S. One of your staff I think had one of our (Pocock Bros) games cata-logues. If your sports club want goods at Manufacturers price they should of course communicate with me.
