of the battery to afford support to the sides of the case. The material of the case should be wood of the most suitable variety, treated in such a manner as to minimise the possibility of wood rotting.

The battery box itself, which is either fixed to the running board or placed in the rear of frame, is of R.R. design and manufacture.

The case, of course, requires no lid.{A. J. Lidsey}

(7) WEIGHT OF BATTERY.

The weight of the battery complete with case and with electrolyte should not exceed 110 lbs.

(8) OVERALL DIMENSIONS OF BATTERY.

The overall, dimensions of the battery are absolutely limited to :-

A length of 20.125"
A width of 6.250"
A height of 10.075"

The available inside dimensions of the battery box are :-
Length 20.250"
Wdith 6.375"
Height 10.150"

the difference being allowed for packing and wedging.

(8a) DIMENSIONS OF CELLS OF THE BATTERY.

Every cell of the battery must have external dimensions approximately as follows :-

Width 3¼"
Length 5 -7/16"
Height

but these dimensions must everywhere lie inside the abslute limits :-
Width 3 - 5/32"
Length 5 - 15/32"
Height
