Copy. LONDON MIDLAND AND SCOTTISH RAILWAY COMPANY, District Goods and Passenger Manager's Office, DERBY. 27th January, 1941. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, Derby - Belper Services for Workpeople. I have for some time had under review the trains which were arranged between Derby and Belper to convey your Belper Staff, the numbers travelling having fallen until only approximately 30 passengers continued to use the trains. Following the recent interruption of services from and to Derby station as you will be aware the trains were temporarily withdrawn, and I understand that the diversion of the passengers presumably to the Trent Co's buses, has had no noticeable effect on those services. The discontinuance of the trains will afford considerable relief on a busy section of our Main line, and it has, therefore, been decided not to reinstate them. The services concerned are as shown below, and I shall be obliged if you will advise your staff accordingly. 8.25am Derby to Ambergate 9. 5am Ambergate to Derby 12.10am Ambergate to Derby (Saturday only) 9. 0am Sunday. Derby to Ambergate. 4. 7pm " 4.45pm " Ambergate to Derby. Yours faithfully, Sgd. J.M.Kirkwood. | ||
