WRAITH III. HAND BRAKE LEVER.

Please receive herewith tracing of G.CD. 446 showing a spring and shield attached to the above Hand Brake Lever.

The spring is required due to the fact that when the foot brake is applied the slotted link for the Hand Brake on the rear equaliser does not work freely in the jaw, thus causing the hand brake lever to lift momentarily and to drop, with a clicking sound. The spring is attached to the lever in such a manner as to overcome this tendency to lift.

The Experimental Department report that the lower bell crank lever on the hand brake is subject to excessive corrosion due to its exposed position. We have therefore placed a mild steel shield round this to protect it from water and mud.
