Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}5/AP.19.1.38 WINDSCREEN WIPERS. We have no hesitation in recommending the use of the Lucas S.W.4. shaft drive wiper as an alternative to Klaxon and other makers. We have several of our cars fitted up with this type of wiper, and they are more silent in operation than the cable drive type. One of the S.W.3. type of Lucas wiper with a similar motor was fitted on the 15,000 miles car 3.B.4. and although slight trouble was experienced with one of the blades engaging pins shearing, the motor itself gave no trouble. The S.W.4. which we are recommending is a positive shaft drive throughout. We have also a built-in rear number plate made by Lucas fitted to 3.B.4. This is quite a good fitment and although not quite so smart in appearance as the Cornercroft, it is equally efficient, and will probably half the cost - Mr.Davis may know the difference.
