DOOR LOCKS:
===========

The writer visited Park Wards' works yesterday to meet Mr. Finney.

The matter of the new door locks developed for the Rover Co., was discussed and the following is the position:-

(1) Wilmot-Breeden have so far produced only one pair of the new pattern locks which are fitted to Mr. Wilks' car.

(2) Mr. Wilks is not satisfied with the sample pair and it is by no means certain the Rover Co., will standardise them. Apparently unless the outside handle is turned at the moment of slamming the lock may be damaged and of course very few people turn the handle as they slam the door so that the risk of damage to the lock is a very serious one.

(3) Wilmot-Breeden are not very optomistic about the new lock but are anxious to make for the Rover Co., locks of the type they now use and which are at present supplied to them by the Everall Co., who hold the patents. W-B. are trying to find a way round these patents.

(4) Wilmot-Breeden have officially told Park Ward & Co., it will be at least six months before the new locks go into production, if ever, but in the meantime they will bring through for them a sample pair. They cannot say when this sample pair will be available.

(5) Mr. Finney suggests we should try the Everall door lock as now used by Rovers and which he thinks superior to the new one being developed by Wilmot-Breeden. Park Ward & Co., have sample Everall locks which you can see when you next go to their works. They are substantially cheaper than the silent travel pattern locks hitherto employed by P.W& Co. and if you agree we should like Mr. Finney's proposal they should be tried to be adopted.
