AJS1/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}17.2.35.Contd.

The thinning down of the splines for the first and second speed experiment was carried out with consider-able care to make certain that there was no possible touching of the corners of the driving splines in the first and second speed pinion, and only .010" was removed from each side of the shaft splines.

We would suggest that on production Mr Bailey instructs this dimension to be increased to .020", and the cutting away to be performed by a method in which the efficiency will not be affected by such possibilities as blunt cutters or similar conditions.
