BENTLEY - CYLINDER.

GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} recently reported it was necessary to rebore the cylinders on a 4¼ litre car after 12,000 miles, the car in question being B.144-HK.{Col. T. Harker - Sales} Col. Menger. As the mileage was far below the usual for a re-bore we asked for the cylinder block to be returned, andit has now been received.

In order to gain some information as to the cause of the premature wear, we should like you to arrange for this block to be fitted to one of the experimental cars, either in the condition as received or re-bored if necessary.

It will be necessary to take the measurements of the bores when fitting, and again at the conclusion of say 10,000 miles, and the results should enable us to decide whether the conditions under which the car was used by the customer were responsible for the wear taking place.
