To En. from CJ. To WOH. from CJ. To De. from CJ. To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from CJ. To P. from CJ. Copy to R.{Sir Henry Royce} To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from CJ. To D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} from CJ. To Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from CJ. To Im. from CJ. To Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from CJ. from design which may be suggested by the manufacturing department. It is scarcely necessary to warn Mr Bailey that he would be extremely foolish to undertake the responsibility of making any departure or serious alteration without consulting the Designing Department. He will recognise the wisdom of consulting the designers. It is obvious that, if Bailey consents to make important alterations or departures on his own responsibility and if such alterations or departures should lead to the failure of the piece in the Experimental Department or in the completed chassis or engine, then the whole of the responsibility for such failure would rest upon Mr.Bailey.
