-2- S.U. Company Ltd. 18th September, 1937. It could be overcome with selective assembly using different sized rollers, but this leads to difficulty when replacements are required and leaves more chance for the human element errors. We feel it would be possible to hold the limit on the armature stop to 1.139" 1.138" that is increasing it .001" and using the same limit as at present employed on the rollers. This would reduce the total slack in the assembly to Best combination of limits. zero using .430" roller. Worst combination of limits .005" using .429" roller. If it would be possible to select only .430" rollers for our pumps the total slack could be reduced to .003" in the worst conditions. We should be glad to hear your views about these suggestions With the best combination of limits there would be no slack and it would be necessary to test with this condition if either dust or heat had a serious effect. The above suggestions would be in addition to increasing the clearances round the armature. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
