PHANTOM INDUCTION PIPE - X.8070 X.1053
PRESENT STD: X.8080 X.1452

Agreed that this is better than many cars, some of which are horrible until warmed up. We have noticed this here even in the south of France.

But the valve in the exhaust is not without its sins, and I think we should go on trying, having seen the wonderful possibilities in aero engines with hardly any heating. Naturally we are hoping for better power curve and better consumptions.

We have ~~what~~ all made suggestions that I don't know what is new, or whose suggestion it is, but several keep reoccurring to me, viz:-

(1) 2 20 HP. with slot inlet and very small balancer pipe.
(2) 1 20 HP. central and 2 Claudel - each 3 cyls. - for high power at high speed.
(3) 2 20 HP. and one Claudel - i.e. like (1) plus one Claudel.

Claudel has separate pedal ~~[strikethrough]~~ left of clutch in No.(2); 20 HP. can be 40/50 Silver Ghost size.

(4) Might we try a novel combination which would be finally made up of 2 combined double carburetters on each 3 cyls. Each would be a 20 HP. RR. expanding carburetter combined with a Claudel or Zenith on the same float chamber, used as follows - the usual RR. open with the right-hand accelerator, and the Claudels with the left hand pedal.

The scheme would look like 2 carbs., but in effect would be 3 throats in each.

Shock induction system, and to give an effect like RR. F.10. in power and good distribution.

All these might have one smaller starter carb. on small balancer pipe.
