EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. R.R. 493 (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} COPIES TO: R.C.J. BJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} OY. OBJECT OF TEST: Low compression Engine in Hangar. TESTER: V.{VIENNA} Halliwell CONDITIONS: XF10 Low compression Pistons E.29110. Tulip valves E.27944 giving increased clearance volume. Barometer 747 m/m Hg. SUMMARY OF TEST: The maximum speed obtained with this engine on the hangar was 2050 rpm. Later further trouble was experienced with the magneto drive (friction type as used with Watford magnetos. Sch. 842) - separate report to follow. This engine has now been removed to NPL test bed to make room for a six footed engine on the hangar. | ||
