To Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} MP. 14426 Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} 11/W28.9.23. Re Spring changes & Hartford Shock Absorbers. Attached are copies of :- Barker's letter of the 18th. inst. Memo. from Hr - Hr3/TB/19.9.23. Our reply - Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} 9/W20.9.23. Hr's - Hr4/TB/21.9.23. Memo. from BJ - BJ15/H26.9.23. In order to overcome certain complaints when cars are fitted with thick leaf springs, we fit Hartford Shock Absorbers only - axle bouncing is one. We have done this ever since Hartfords were standardised, with success. To fit thin leaf springs in all cases also, seems to us to be putting the Company to unnecessary expense, and I do not think it is what R. {Sir Henry Royce} really means. If you are in agreement with this, perhaps BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} would put the matter clearly to BJ. Hl Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
