Phantom III Brakes.

With further reference to E/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/MN.29.9.36, and E.2/HP.30.9.36, we are very anxious to have your report on the question of incorporating those modifications which we want to get on to production forthwith to improve our front brake movement.

These include:-

(1) Setting the front brake camshaft operating lever in the "off" position, almost touching the Hancock shoe.

(2) Thinning the bolt bosses on the horizontal portion of the bell crank lever, and replacing the castle nut by a lock nut rivetted over, to N.Sch.4904.

(3) Fitting an external sheet metal stop on the cap of the pivot pin for the bell crank, to N.Sch.4915.

The above modifications are required for immediate application to production, and for retrospective action. The other developments mentioned in E/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/MN.29.9.36 should follow on as soon as possible, but we do not want these to hold up the immediate moves contemplated.

It should be understood that in adding the external stop we dispense with the internal one entirely, but the internal one can be pushed out of the way in cases of retrospective action, if found at all difficult to dismantle.
