A car D which should cover 2,610 kil. covers 3,000
A car E which should cover 2,640 kil. covers 3,100

but, in the case of the last the 3,100 - 2,640 = 460 last kilometres have not been covered at the stipulated average of 2,640/24 = 110 kilometres per hour, the distance for this car, in the classification according to the performance index number will be brought back to 2,640 kil.

For this, car therefore, D = M and D/M = I.

For these five cars the performance index numbers run as follows :

Car A ..... index number 1.950/1.700 = 1.147

Car B ..... index number 1.910/1.880 = 1.016

Car C ..... index number 2.540/2.200 = 1.155

Car D ..... index number 3.000/2.610 = 1.149

Car E ..... index number 2.640/2.640 = I.

The classification is therefore the following :

1st .......... Car C
2nd .......... Car D
3rd .......... Car A
4th .......... Car E
5th .......... Car B

If the distance D covered does not reach the stipulated minimum for any of the cars the race Stewards will be empowered to decide whether the Cup should be allotted to the car having the highest D/M ratio.

The winner of the 14th. Biennial Rudge-Whitworth Cup will win the Cup outright.
