The conditions of the weather make it impossible to ddo any mileage at present. We hoped to day to get going, but a further heavy fall of snow during the night made it worse. Towards noon the sun came out and made the roads more passable. I went out with the car and did quite a lot in third gear, the maximum oil tempt; reaching 80°c. The front silencer cracked during the run. The cause is due to the movement of the engine. the top part of the end of silencer is pulled outwards the bottom inwards by the down pipe. The front swinginganchorage of the rear silencer has taken a set towards the frame thus.

We are going to suspend it by a single strip of steel. It was the rear anchorage that was causing mpst of the exhaust boom, at present this part is suspended by wire. Re Bensport. We are sorry that at the moment the photographs may not be a success; yesterday wehad just got fixed up when a snow storm put a stop to it and as the car was to day we have taken two pictures this morning but one could not see the road for snow. If these are not satisfactory shall we have another try when the car returns. Re the Bottom half sent out for the Peregrine. The oil pipe coming out of the base at the front end would be knocked off by the cross steering tube in a few moments. We shall have to alter this before fitting.
