Replying to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swale 6/ER 21.3.39 we have fitted the new exhaust valves & are returning [annotated: broken RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}] those removed, including The broken one. only very small peices remained of the head of the valve.

The klingerite Gasket was in good condition but one or two patches stuck to the head when it was lifted & rendered it unfit for further use. There was no difficulty in lifting the cylinder head.
All the inlet valves are in excellent condition for the mileage. The front Three have recessed heads & the rear three resemble standard.
