X.2512 - MANUFACTURE AND PRODUCTION TESTING OF CONDENSERS FOR BATTERY IGNITION.

W-e are now satisfied that we have the right testing apparatus for the condensers, and that tests carried out according to recommendations already issued to you under cover of our EFC1/AT30.8.19, are satisfactory production tests for this unit. For your convenience we attach two further copies of these.

We are, therefore, now in a position to hand over to the prodction testing dept. the small transformer which we have had specially wound for this purpose to give voltages of 350, 400 and 450, also our A.C. milli-ammeter upon which the capacity results of the condensers have been taken, subject to the condition that on receipt of the new A.C. milli-ammeter which is on order, this is handed over to us.

Will you kindly give instructions that no [handwritten: further] production condensers be sent to us for test.

Regarding the actual results latterly obtained, since the production dept. have started the production testing of motors in the same room in which the condensers have been made up, we have noticed that the condensers have [strikethrough: not] been coming through so well. This may be merely a coincidence, but nevertheless there seems some force in the argument that the atmosphere of the room will contain acid vapours from the batteries.
