Re: Bentley Chassis B-35-KU - F.B.A.Ltd., -------------------------------------- Thanks for your memo dealing with the welding of rear silencer. We would like you to confirm that no trouble has been experienced with the centre baffle EB.882 working loose. This is rather unlikely as it is spot welded in twelve places, and that the trouble which we agree is due to insufficient welding, is confined to the supporting clips EB.878/9, in which case can you say whether there have been any cases of the lower clips EB.879 working loose. On B.35.KU, complaint is made of the upper clips only. Does this agree with your experience at K? The job is being dealt with experimentally, with a view to deleting the clips. As you have already dealt with the Paris Depot regarding this job, will you write them again dealing specifically with the action they have taken on B.35.KU. There are two points to raise: (1) They are wrong in stating that clips are secured by rivets. The fixing is by spot welding only and we agree with you that failures are due to not being properly welded in the first instance. (2) There was no need to open up the silencer. BY/Mtn. | ||
