X.975 - ELECTRICAL INSTRUCTION BOOK.

I have your St1/EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/30.12.20. With reference to your second paragraph, I have seen EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and we are arranging to omit the paragraph on p.10 and to modify the instructions on p.23 in regard to this point. The point about the I and J will also be put before Mr. Walker who deals with the arrangement of the matter.

Regarding your third paragraph. Your contention is quite correct, but this we look upon as an unimportant point and do not propose making any alteration.

Re your fourth paragraph. There have been occasional cases of the cut-out failing to make contact on account of dust or dirt, and this we are providing for in the next edition, but Mr. Platford does not know of a case where the cut-out has stuck in the off position.

You are right in supposing that either condition would lead to the blowing of the field fuse.

With reference to your sixth paragraph. The stipulation was more with the object of keeping the potential of the whole of the chassis frame as low as possible in relation to earth (being of course insulated by the tyres) so that anyone standing on a cement floor and touching the car would not receive a bad shock. You will understand that owing to the earth connection necessary for the ignition, the chassis frame goes with the wiring in this respect.

Contd.
