Chandler}10/JH. 6th. March, 1939. Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, re 11" Thermoid Facings. We notice that the inside diameter of the facings now being supplied is 6.5, whereas the original facing was 6.75. Your installation drawing of the 11.A3 clutch certainly specifies 6.5 max. for the inner dia. of the flywheel face, but in view of the original facings being 6.75 we had come to regard this as a very rough limit, and some of the forgings will hardly clean up to 6.5, we would therefore prefer the facing to be 6.75. This is not a matter of great importance, and there is no question of scrapping existing stock, as the risk of a shoulder being left on the facing as a result of wear is not great, and moreover experience indicates that the wear of Thermoid facings is negligible in relation to that of other facings we have used. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
