EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}9/JH.

6th. March, 1939.

Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa.

For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

re Long Clutches.

With reference to drawing 22000/2, we would be interested to know what thickness of pressure plate is allowed for to bring the release fingers 2" + 1/32 - 1/32 from face of flywheel.

Our reason for asking this is that on the rig we use at Derby for setting all B. & B. levers, the thickness is .330, which agrees reasonably closely with the average working thickness of the standard driven plate with Thermoid facings, also we would be glad to know the thickness of your standard gauge plate for 10" and 11" B. & B. clutches, as we are not sure whether our dimension of .330 was originally taken from one of your gauge plates, or whether it was decided upon as the average working thickness of the plate we use.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
