By fitting the larger section tyres we do more to improve the suspension generally than anything else we know of at present. Unless we fit the large section tyres, our competitors will score a definite advantage over us. Our men who have just returned from running 12-EX car in France and who have had experience of running considerably over 150,000 miles in France, claim that the advantages of the low pressure tyres are tremendous under French road conditions. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/An. who is now in France with 12-EX, reports that the car is generally better all round when running with low pressure tyres. Springfield have standardised low pressure tyres and cannot sell cars without them. It is certain that the reliability of the chassis is increased during the last run in France with 12-EX, there were no breakages. The wear and tear on the body is also greatly reduced. We consider this is most important. We shall shortly be producing Phantom cars fitted with hydraulic dampers and the new lightened axle. We shall not get full value with these parts unless we fit low pressure tyres. contd :- | ||
