THROTTLE CONTROL LEVER - F.88199

The above lever is produced as a BZ/A die casting, which is screwed at one end in order to carry a knob, F.88200, the total factory cost of the two parts fitted together prior to polishing being 1/1½d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}

The castings which are not particularly clean cost 2¾d each, and we have confirmed that lever forgings complete with ball in manganese bronze, may be obtained for 1¾d each, plus a part tool cost of £7.10.0d., which would be recovered after producing 150 chassis due to the saving provided.

A sample of this material has been passed to H1/Mr.Aspley, who reports it to be suitable for chromium plating, and we, therefore, suggest that the integral lever be adopted for all Wraith chassis, and for 'E' series Phantom III. Existing levers and knobs are machined for Phantom III. 'D' series, and 100 lever castings delivered for Wraith, but the saving provided by the integral lever is sufficient to justify scrapping of the latter, as we shall still show a saving of 8d per chassis. In addition to the direct saving shown above, there will also be a reduction of indirect charges, which cannot be estimated due to the elimination of handling, transport etc.
