Report on Swivel Bracket F.4952 for Centre of Rear Springs.

The object of this alteration is to make a lighter piece. The form is altered slightly and the flat side has been hollowed out also the side bosses have been milled away as sketch.

[Sketch of a bracket with a handwritten note pointing to the side bosses: 'This part milled away']

The weight of the new piece F.4952 with bush is 3lb. 7ozs. and the present standard F.2464 with bush is 3lbs. 12 ozs. The new piece is therefore 10ozs. per car lighter. The new bracket has been bumped for 30hrs. with 2" bumps and 1 hour with 1" bumps. There are no signs of any failure but I am not sure that it is advisable to adopt this bracket as there should not be much of a saving in weight if the standard bracket were milled away as the above sketch. I suggest we try a pair like this.
