S/W. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c.c. to Whr.{Mr Wheeler} [struck through] [Handwritten top center: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} x7772] [Handwritten top right: x7380] Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/D25.7.30. Re: R.R.A.I. I enclose copy of letter I wrote to Mr. Beaver on the 3rd of July and original of his reply. You might please note the contents as very probably this matter will arise whilst you are out there, in fact I am not sure if it would not be a good thing for you definitely to raise it. Please return the attached as soon as you have finished with them but take copies if you wish to do so. I must say I thoroughly agree with Whr{Mr Wheeler}'s comments that in view of what Beaver said when he was over here in January it seems a waste of time and money for them to go on experimenting. Nevertheless we cannot lightly go back on our having agreed to the deletion of subframes from the contract. I would, however, whilst you are out there, in any case like you to make a special point of seeing exactly what they are doing at Brewsters in connection with the method of mounting bodies without our subframe. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} P.S. Since writing the above I have seen DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/M22.7.30, of which you have had a copy. It makes one wonder whether I ought to write any more to Beaver on the subject, but I am inclined to think that the best way is probably to leave it to you to discuss with them when you are over there. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Att: Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/E3.7.30 & Original of Mr. Beaver's reply of 14.7.30. | ||
