STEERING (Contd.) (4)

The Committee recommended that Mr. Spinney should also be instructed to consider some scheme whereby the present cars being manufactured, and those already on the road could be safe-guarded from accident due to neglect. Such a device to be proof against recurrence of this trouble, provided of course that the joint is securely locked and attended to when adjusted.

Mr. Nadin suggested that we might use flanged ball joint with adjustment by means of a liner instead of the present form. This would enable the joint to be attached and locked by means of bolts which could be rendered safe by means of split pinned nuts.

Mr. Barrington suggested that some form of washer could be fitted to the present scheme in which the tongue could be bent up round the flats of the locknut.
